Wedding day details

Our wedding events are weather dependent. Check here for the most up-to-date plan. April 24, 2022 1:30 pm Ceremony, Indian Basin Grove Trailhead  in the Princess Campground of Sequoia National Forest 5:30 pm reception, Gazebo Gardens , Fresno CA Ceremony We are planning to hold our ceremony in the Sequoia National Forest near a trailhead in the Princess Campground. If there is heavy snow this winter then this location will change. To get there you travel through Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park, about 2 hours from Fresno. There are park entrance fees ($35 per car) and limited parking, so we will need to coordinate carpools. The trailhead opens to a beautiful meadow, where we are planning to exchange vows. The meadow is sensitive, so being mindful of this, we are not setting up chairs and will stay near a trail. But, if you need a chair, let us know and we will bring one for you. The trail is paved, but worn and uneven in places and the distance from parking to this location will ...

Lodging and Accommodations

We marked suggested hotels, restaurants, and our reception location on the map above.  Hotel Suggestions The reception will take place in a residential area with few hotels nearby. There are many Airbnb 's that are closer to the reception location. In general, the marked areas have several hotels and we just selected a few for the map. Fresno has a relatively high crime rate, so if you're uncertain about a hotel location and want to check with us first, please do not hesitate to email or call Lauren, lehale3ATgmail.com,  919, 818 0481.  Flight Suggestions Fresno airport is a small-medium sized airport and is typically the airport we use for travel. But Los Angeles, Sacramento, Oakland, and San Francisco are all about a 3 hour drive from us. I do not recommend flying into any major city if you plan to drive out during the hours of 7-10 am or 3- 8 pm.  If your flights place you there, enjoy the city, see a museum or amazing restaurant, and just relax for a whil...

Registry

We’re so excited to see you at our wedding. We know many of you are traveling far to join us and we have absolutely no expectations for gifts. In lieu of a traditional registry, we'd set up a honeymoon fund. We will travel to Crete soon after our wedding and have several activities picked out. If you treat us to one of these experiences, we'll send you a photo of us enjoying it. For those who prefer traditional gifts we also included a small registry as well. Again, gifts are totally optional. More than anything your presence will mean the most to us. We just bought a house and moved, so our RSVP card address is no longer current. Our current address is 2641 N Farris Ave Fresno CA 93704. Honeymoon If you opt to give an experience, you can use paypal  https://www.paypal.me/ IanAndLauren  to transfer funds. Please note which experience you're gifting so we can update this page. If you're not comfortable using paypal, just email us and we'll coordinate another option w...

California Getaway

Weekend Activities and Recommendations We generated a google map with layers to share some of our favorite local and nearby activities and locations. The map has suggested indoor and outdoor activities in Fresno, day trips from Fresno, and trips that would be fantastic if you have 2 or more days. Most of these activities would require a rental car, so we liked rental car locations in Fresno as well. One of our favorite trips is to travel to Monterey, then down the Pacific Coast Highway through Big Sur, ending for an overnight stay in Big Sur or traveling a bit further to in Cambria or Paso Robles. This is a popular area, so we suggest making reservations ahead of time if you plan to make this trip. San Francisco and Los Angeles are also easy trips to make with a few extra days.  The map is below and also linked here .

How we met

Overlook from the hike where we met and later got engaged . Lauren's take: We share a love of the outdoors and appropriately we met while hiking through San Joaquin River Gorge in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. I was new to the area and Ian mentioned he needed a climbing partner for the local rock climbing gym I had just joined. This was perfect. I too was in need of a reliable belayer. This launched a relationship that has stood strong as friends became partners. A few years later, Ian would propose in the same spot where we met, overlooking the San Joaquin River Gorge. Ian's take: During that first hike, after a brief exchange of Aldo Leopold quotes I found myself walking alone on the trail, when I hear the patter of feet behind me. It was Lauren and from then we spent the rest of the hike talking. We mentioned mutual interest in climbing, however I hadn't climbed in many years, I just wan...
